Asheville Police have arrested Joseph Lamar Adams, birth date 02/26/1986, in the March 3 shooting of a man at Hillcrest Apartments, 100 Atkinson St. On Monday, shortly before 9 a.m., Asheville police officers were dispatched to the above address in reference to a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, the victim was waiting in the apartment building?s office with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg. The victim stated that he was shot as he was walking near the #12 building. The victim received medical attention from Emergency Medical Services, but refused transport to the hospital. He gave officers a description of the suspect, who police later determined to be Adams. Victim stated she forgot to place her door stopper in the sliding glass back door that secures same. Victim stated that the suspect entered through this rear sliding glass door of the apartment, removed his clothing downstairs, and proceeded up the stairs into the victim?s room where the assault occurred. ID was notified and responded to take pictures and gather evidence. Victim transported by officers Mission Hospitals for further investigation.
